Sunday, I had the privilege of baptizing Jason, Jace and Averi Bankston, a father and his two teenage children. Their mother Andrea Bankston had previously been baptized. All four joined the church in the morning. I baptized them by immersion in the afternoon at the beach in Siesta Key. Do Methodists do that? Yes. Pastors usually offer any mode of baptism that is the most meaningful to the one being baptized (or their parents in the case of infants). Sprinkling, pouring, and immersion are all practiced in the United Methodist Church. We celebrate God’s grace working in our lives in baptism. God offers us grace so we may follow Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, and exhibit his love to all.
