First United Methodist Church has a long tradition of musical excellence in the Sarasota area. Our music ministry offers an exciting and fulfilling opportunity for all to serve. Music plays an important role in the life of those who follow God, and it has been a cornerstone of First United Methodist Church for over a century. FUMC has a diverse group of talented musicians who serve faithfully. Everyone is welcome to be a part of our music program at FUMC.

Chancel Choir
The FUMC Chancel Choir sings the best sacred music in the American Protestant and English choral traditions. The choir provides musical leadership weekly at the 11:00am traditional worship. The Chancel Choir welcomes new members. NO audition required. For those who enjoy choral singing and musical camaraderie, contact us at the email address below.
Chancel Choir rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. During the summer the choir meets on Sundays at 9:45am. in the choir room.

#SongSquad
FUMC’s #SongSquad brings God’s love for children and children’s music to life! #SongSquad unites a team of adults and enthusiastic kids to focus on music, relationships, and leadership skills. The focus is Christ’s love for all children and the importance of sharing that love with each other. The group spends an action-packed hour filled with games, snacks, prizes, and music making.
Our premier children’s choir is open to all children of the community, regardless of religious affiliation or faith practice. We welcome children in kindergarten through fifth grade. For more information, CLICK HERE!

Music Fine Arts
The Music Fine Arts Series is one of the church’s largest commitments to the Sarasota area. Our concert series has a long-distinguished history. First United Methodist Church is a prominent concert venue due to its prime downtown location and large seating capacity. In 2010 the sanctuary underwent significant renovations which resulted in the expanded chancel area and locally unparalleled acoustics. Music of all genres – jazz, gospel, classical, modern, choral, orchestral – are breathtaking in this sacred space. Also included are our special seasonal events, such as the Christmas Gala and Carol Sing!
