First United Methodist Church has a long tradition of musical excellence in the Sarasota area. Music plays an important role in the life of those who follow God, and it has been a cornerstone of First UMC for over a century. Our music ministry offers an exciting and fulfilling opportunity for all to serve.
We have a diverse group of talented musicians who serve faithfully — from seasoned professionals to complete beginners. Everyone is welcome to be a part of our music program. Our purpose is to glorify God. Our mission is to make Disciples of Christ. Our vision is to further God’s Kingdom.

From our flagship adult choir to our youth ensemble and children’s choir, there’s a musical home for every age and skill level. No experience required to get started — just a love of music and a willingness to show up.
Chancel Choir
The FUMC Chancel Choir sings the best sacred music in the American Protestant and English choral traditions, providing musical leadership every Sunday at the 11:00 am service. New members are always welcome — no audition required. If you enjoy choral singing and musical camaraderie, this is your group.
TeamTreble
Friendships, fellowship, and laughter are the heartbeat of TeamTreble — FUMC's only auditioned ensemble. Composed of youth through age 20 with singing and choral experience, the group meets for sharing, snacks, and fast-paced music making. Music reading ability is necessary. TeamTreble performs with worship leadership and appears regularly in the Music Fine Arts series.
#SongSquad
FUMC's #SongSquad brings God's love for children and music to life with a team of adults and enthusiastic kids focused on music, relationships, and leadership skills. Open to all children in the community — no church membership or faith background required. Kindergarten through 5th grade gather every Thursday for an action-packed hour of games, snacks, prizes, and music making.

The Music Fine Arts Series is one of the church’s largest commitments to the Sarasota community. First United Methodist Church is a prominent concert venue in downtown Sarasota — its prime location and large seating capacity draw audiences from across the region.
In 2010, the sanctuary underwent significant renovations that resulted in an expanded chancel area and locally unparalleled acoustics. Music of all genres — jazz, gospel, classical, modern, choral, orchestral — fills this sacred space throughout the year.
The series also includes beloved seasonal events such as the Christmas Gala and Carol Sing. Most concerts are free and open to the public, with occasional ticketed events for special performances.
