But the Lord says, “Because the poor are oppressed, because of the groans of the needy, I’m now standing up. I will provide the help they are gasping for.” (Psalm 12:5)
God has always provided help for the poor, oppressed, hopeless, and downtrodden. He does so in many ways, but the greatest method that he uses to help those in need is by utilizing us. He strengthens us to offer assistance, to lend a hand, to stand up for others, and to offer our prayers and support to those who are suffering. When we ignore our own discomfort to provide comfort for those who have been ignored, we are doing as God called us.
We should never be afraid to do the right thing, for God will watch over us and be with us as we do. It may be hard. It may even hurt. But the joy we will receive in being on the side of righteousness will be with us a hundredfold as we live our lives in Jesus Christ.
