“For every species of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by the human species, but no one can tame the tongue—a restless evil, full of deadly poison.” James 3:7-8
A woman went to her pastor to ask for him to pray for her. She had been confronted about the negative gossip she had been spreading. She realized she had been wrong and wanted to make amends. He agreed to pray for her but asked her to go to the center of town and tear open a feather pillow and dump out all the feathers. Then she should come back to him in a week. She did what he requested. When she came back, he said, “Now go gather all those feathers.” She said, “That’s impossible. They’re everywhere by now.” He said, “In the same way you can never undo the damage you did by the negative gossip you spread.” May God help us tame our tongues.
