“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)
Last Sunday’s message talked a bit about the GriefShare ministry at First Church, and how people going through the loss of a loved one were able to get together to talk, share, and support each other during the sessions.
It has been amazing to watch the amount of healing that has already taken place for the members of the group. The videos we watched and the workbook we read all helped in the process, but the strongest help that I saw was the love and support that was shared among the members. It was the knowledge that we all brought of God’s unconditional love for all of us, His mercy in allowing us to turn our grief over to Him, and our faith that, through the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we will once again be with those whom we have lost. May we all share this knowledge with others in need so that they may feel the comfort and love of God.
