The subservience of women to men has been a part of our world for millennia. Genesis explains it as part of the curse because of the disobedience of Adam and Eve. Does the coming of Jesus Christ lift that curse? If we fast forward to the New Testament, we see mixed messages regarding women in the church. There are passages that indicate women were seen as equals to men in the church. Other passages “put women in their place” under the authority of men. How does the gospel of our Lord bring good news to women as well as men? Should women be leaders in the church? Let’s think about that.
