Sunday Services: Chapel 8:30 a.m. ~  Sanctuary 11:00 a.m.

First United Methodist Church of Sarasota was the first church established in Sarasota. It has a long and illustrious history within the area. It is a strong and vibrant church, coming back from the pandemic and offering missions and ministries for the church, our community, and our world. We welcome all people who wish to connect with God through Jesus Christ. Not sure just what you believe? First UMC is a place where you can begin or continue your spiritual journey without any pressure or judgement. You can see our basic beliefs HERE.

We offer two different Sunday services with two different experiences. The 8:30 a.m. service in the Chapel is less formal, begins with a  hymn sing, and has more of a suburban small-church feel. The 11 a.m. Sanctuary service features the pipe organ, choir, and a more traditional feel. Both services feature magnificent music, scripture, prayer, and a biblically inspired message.

On Sundays at 9:30 a.m. we also offer an online-only contemporary service with great music by our Celebration Praise Band.

Bulletins are posted on Friday for both the traditional services and the contemporary service. Click HERE for the bulletins to follow along online or to see the Order of Service, announcements, and calendar.

Welcome from Our Senior Pastor!

Welcome to First United Methodist Church of Sarasota! Thank you for visiting our website. I am aware that finding your church home can be exhausting. You may have questions about “First Church.” Feel free to contact me at 941-900-8231(cell) or at [email protected]. People who had plans to shop around for a church have told me that they felt so warmly welcomed and at home at First UMC that there was no need to continue church shopping. We hope that will be your experience whether you join us for online and/or for in-person worship. FUMC is a warm and caring congregation, making a difference in our community and beyond. May God keep you safe and healthy!

Blessings,

Rev. Sam Wright, Ph.D.
