How do we know what God’s will is? A woman said God instructed her to direct traffic—topless. And she did. A Jihadist suicide-bomber killed himself and dozens of others. He was doing what he believed was the will of God. A man gave up his lucrative business so he could focus on building affordable housing because he understood that was what God wanted him to do. Jesus was willing to be crucified because that was his Father’s will. How do we decide what God wants of us to do? We read the Scriptures, study Church tradition, listen to other Christians, pay attention to the Holy Spirit working within us, and use our reason to determine if it makes sense and fits with our Christian understanding of God. When we have discerned what God wants of us, we throw ourselves wholeheartedly into it.
