From now on, brothers and sisters, if anything is excellent and if anything is admirable, focus your thoughts on these things: all that is true, all that is holy, all that is just, all that is pure, all that is lovely, and all that is worthy of praise.
Philippians 4:8
I know Americans who support Vladimir Putin and think he is standing up for Christianity. How could they think such foolish thoughts? How could their ideas be so twisted?
They’ve been listening to representatives from the Russian Orthodox Church. They’ve focused on podcasts, internet sites, and news sources that promote such thinking.
Why are there such vast polarities in our thinking? People promote many varieties of propaganda for their point of view—and much of it is negative.
The apostle Paul encouraged Christians to focus on what is true, holy, just, pure, lovely, and worthy of praise. Whatever we focus on influences how we think. By focusing on what is true and good in gratitude to God, we can experience the peace that passes all understanding.
