The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Philippians 4:5-6
It’s easy to be anxious about what may or may not happen, especially when times are hard. Paul writes these words to his friends in Philippi while in prison. He does not know if he will be executed or be released. But he knows that he does not have to be anxious or worried. Instead, he prays to God. He is willing to suffer and die, but he is also eager to continue to help the church in Philippi. He gives thanks for God’s presence and for God hearing his prayer. He trusts that God will answer with whatever is best. Paul gives us a great example and an important lesson. Don’t worry. Ask God for help. Give thanks to God, always trusting in God’s grace.
