The Shared Table
Have you ever said “hello” to someone at church and thought, “I’d like to get to know that person”?
Would
you enjoy some social time with a few other First Church folks over lunch or dinner?
If so, then The
Shared Table is for you!
The Shared Table, an exciting new
program to enable you to build friendships with others in our community of faith. You will be divided
into groups of eight for lunch or dinner in your homes once a month for four months. Here is how it works:
You will be placed into groups of eight which may be composed of couples and/or singles. Singles may wish to sign
up as a single or with a friend. You can choose whether you would like to be in a dinner group or a lunch group.
Based on the premise that we get to know each other more easily when we share a meal at
home, each couple (which could be two singles) will host their group once in their home. If a member’s home is not able to
accommodate the group, perhaps a condo community room or another member’s home could be used. This is a casual meal; in
fact, paper plates are perfectly acceptable. Sitting on the lanai or on the sofa in the den works as well as sitting at the dining room
table. The host can serve in whatever manner is most comfortable for him/her. The host will provide the entrée and beverages;
others will bring a dish to share.
~ Let’s eat ~ One person from your group will contact you and will host the first meal. Groups will determine the dates and
times of their meals together. We are fed by food, but we are nourished when we share a meal. Whether you have
attended First Church for four weeks or forty years, you can be blessed by sharing your table.
