At First Church we strive to create a place where each child feels loved and learns about God’s great love for them. We care about your children; we look forward to learning and worshiping with them through our Children’s Ministry.

 

First Church Kids ~ 

Preschool - 5th Grade    Room 107

First Church Kids meet at two different times for Preschool - 5th grade.

 

First Church Kids offers a safe, loving environment where children have fun while they grow in their faith and learn to share Christ's love with others.

9:45 a.m. ~ 10:30 a.m.

During our contemporary Celebration service

11:15 a.m. ~ 12:00 p.m.

During our traditional service in the Sanctuary

Preschool - 5th Grade

At First Church, we believe in making the Bible come alive for kids! This means acting out the Bible stories, hands-on lessons, and discussing how the Bible relates to kids' real lives. First Church Kids meet during the 9:30 a.m. and

11:00 a.m. services on Sunday mornings. Kids worship with their families before a Children's Moment, then the teacher escorts them to the Treehouse for their very own worship. They experience the Bible with Living Inside Out, a large group/small group worship experience. They begin in large group worship and then move to small groups where they build relationships and dig deepr into the Bible story.

Nursery ~ Infants - Age 3     Room 106

9:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m

We provide a safe, caring place for our youngest children during the 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services. Our nursery is located in Room 106 of the Family Life Center. Please sign-in your child to the nursery prior to the service. You will receive a pager so we can notify you during the service if necessary.

Sign-In Procedure

If your child/children are ages 4-5th grade, please sign them in at the sign-in stations in Fellowship Hall before the 9:30 a.m. service and in the Narthex before the 11:00 a.m. service. Parents must sign their children out in Room 107 before the children can leave the classroom.

Safety is our first concern with our children. Each volunteer goes through a background check and is trained in the First United Methodist Church's Child Protection Policy.

First Kids Missions

 

Our kids are a great example to the rest of the church with their mission projects. Through First Kids Missions, the kids use their creativity and enthusiasm to go Christmas caroling, hold bake sales, and make gifts for different non-profit organizations in Sarasota County.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

For one week in the summer, our Family Life Center is turned into everything from a dude ranch to a campsite where kids learn about God’s love through arts and crafts, games, snacks, music, and storytelling. VBS is for children ages 4 through 5th grade.
